Escaping Secrets |
“I work primarily with discarded and found materials, seeking to uncover meaning in the meaningless and value in the worthlessness. Working with found materials steeps my work in layers of time, history and meaning. I further incorporate time by layering process on process on process. My pieces – conglomerates of discarded cultural artifacts – are the results of layers of additive and subtractive processes including painting, gluing, scraping, sanding, tearing, obliterating, erasing, correcting and patching. Every piece I make expresses its own history.”
