ELIZABETH RICKERT

"ART THAT DARES TO BE BEAUTIFUL", a headline from a Boston Globe gallery review in the 1990's, keenly expresses Elizabeth Rickert's challenge when confronted with a blank canvas. However, like most young artists, when Elizabeth first began painting she thought it was more exciting to produce unfathomable artwork that kept the artist steps ahead of and far removed from the viewer. And then the epiphany, when it became perfectly clear that exquisitely rendered imagery - ranging from luscious flowers and fruit to beautiful Koi streaming through transluscent ponds - brought more pleasure to her as she created and a a visceral connection to the viewer.
